Common Name: Turtle Vine, Bolivian Jew
Origin: Central & South America
Callisia repens is a fast-growing trailing indoor plant loved for its small, soft green leaves with delicate purple tones underneath. Its cascading growth makes it perfect for hanging pots, shelves, and plant styling where you want a lush, flowing effect.
This compact tropical plant is ideal for apartments, offices, and small spaces. It grows quickly in bright indoor conditions and can easily be trimmed to stay full and bushy. Callisia repens is also popular for terrariums and as a ground cover in warm climates.
If you’re looking to buy trailing indoor plants in Sydney, Callisia repens is a low-maintenance, beginner-friendly option that adds softness and texture to any plant collection.
🌱 Care Guide
Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Can tolerate medium light, but vibrant colour develops best in brighter conditions. Avoid harsh direct sun.
Water:
Keep soil lightly moist. Water when the top 2–3 cm feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as soggy soil can cause root rot.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate humidity but adapts well to typical indoor Sydney conditions.
Temperature:
Grows best between 18°C to 28°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining indoor potting mix with added perlite for aeration.
Fertiliser:
Feed every 4 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted liquid fertiliser.
Pet Friendly:
⚠️ Mildly toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets.
